A majority of the companies that hire for data entry will need the applicants to be good with maths and especially English. You must be able to write and speak fluently in English and if you have an additional skill of writing and reading in more languages than English that will surely help you get translation jobs.

These are some of the main skills you will require to build before applying to any data entry job.

1. Fast typing skills, you need to be accurate and fast with your typing
2. You must know all the in’s and out’s of using a computer effectively

That is why I have mentioned other skills than just using your computer, because frankly any kid these days knows how to use MS tools and can speak good English, like us Indians are better in English than the Native Americans in some ways.

You will have to transfer the files and data from different sources like the paper audio video to the company database and this should be done with a deadline.

You will be required to review your work before submitting it and make a managed data of your errors and minor mistakes that you may have made during the actual work.

Oftentimes, the data provided to you will not be complete and will need some research from your side to get done with the work.

The company or the job provider may give you their platform or additional software to get done with the jobs so you will have to adapt quickly, though you can charge higher if this happens and that will be fairly reasonable.

The most important one: You will be required to sign a contract to be in line with security procedures and laws of data integrity and data protection laws.
