How To Start A Blog: Quick Guide | How to do blogging with WordPress
Do you also want to know How to Start A Blog for your own, whether just as a hobby or to make a decent monthly income with your WordPress blog?
Now before we start with the best checklist for WordPress blogging, I request you to learn the basics first and get familiar with digital marketing terms because we gonna be using those a lot.
I will still guide you a bit about the terms we gonna be using in this article like Domain name, Hosting, plugins, and of course WordPress.
Before moving forward, if you are a student wanting to start a blog for free then you should start with Google’s free blogging platform: Blogger.com
But I would still recommend you to save some money and start with WordPress instead because there are a lot of limitations on Blogger and everything is controllable on a Wordrpess site.
By the way, WordPress hosting isn’t that expensive, I mean you would have already spent a lot more than WordPress yearly prices on your drugs or girlfriend maybe.
Nah not kidding this time, it’s true think about it, think about all the types of drugs you waste your money on your junk food, your girlfriend/boyfriend everything is a drug that sucks your energy and leaves you broke.
Hah, seems like I can start a life coaching blog too.
What is Blogging?

Simply creating a site and writing stuff you like over any topic that you want to or have experience in and want to share your wisdom with the world.
Blogging requirements:
- A domain name
- Hosting provider
- Themes & Plugins (Free)
- SEO knowledge
Domain Name
A domain name is simply the name of a website that pints to a specific IP address, initially when you install your site on a hosting provider, what you will receive is an Ip address like this – 12:78:63:738:83.
Now you can’t call it a blog, can you? what’s its name? some number!

That is why you need a name to it, a domain name. So you buy a name for it and redirect its nameservers to the domain name to the Ip address, in simple words give a name to your site.
You can buy a domain name from the following top domain name providers:
- Godaddy
- Namecheap
If you want to learn the competitive process of buying and redirecting its nameservers to the hosting provider please look at YouTube for a detailed guide video, this is just a quick how to get started guide for noobs.
WordPress Hosting
A website needs a home, it needs a place where it can keep all the data you put into it: the images, the files, the videos, and all the text data.
And the home needs to be online all the time 24×7, so whenever someone opens your site, it doesn’t show any error of ‘site can’t be reached’ cause it is sleeping offline in the home.

This is where you need a hosting company to host your site’s home 24×7 online, basically keep your site awake always.
This is hosting in simple words.
Many hosting companies provide different hosting plans based on various factors like storage, bandwidth, and also how many sites do you wanna host on a single home.
My best pick for buying any hosting plan is Hostinger.com, this one is far the best and cheapest also the fastest for WordPress hosting.
If you want to buy cloud hosting (a much faster and powerful home, usually needed for bigger sites, no use for newbies) then you should go with hostgator.com
Keep the name short and simple, do not add numbers or hyphens in between, head over to the SEO for WordPress article to know more hacks.
WordPress.org: Themes and Plugins
Aa… Wait a minute… You already signed up to WordPress.com in a hurry didn’t you? WordPress.com is a different site and wodrpess.org is an open-source project
A script you can manually install on your hosting, like installing a huge board over your house, where you put all your content.

Just login to your hosting dashboard, go to Cpanel, and there you will see an “Auto Installer” if you are on Hostinger, or most likely see “Softaculous” or any other software installer.
Click it, and then you get an option to Install various scripts, just choose WordPress, fill in the basic details, and Wallah! you created your first WordPress site.
Now connect it to the domain you bought.
Done yet?
Dayum buddy, you are doing great, go flex in front of your granny she will be seriously proud of you.
Now Go to appearance and choose the basic simple and fastest theme for your site. In my case, I use Generate Press theme, Really simple, one of the faster and FREE.
Install all the necessary plugins listed below, Now don’t ask why and what you will know just follow me:
Table of Content: to break down your content and make it look organized. Just like the one this site article has in the beginning.
RankMath: An SEO plugin, we will get to that later.
Contact Form 7: Add its code to the contact page you have built.
Smush it: Smush your images
Graphics are the heaviest part of any site, so Smush will smush the images (you will know just install the plugin) and put a lazyload feature.
Lazyload: It will load the graphics of a page one by one. It will show the graphics of just the fold of your laptop or phone. It will not load the entire site at once but only when a user scrolls down meaning request to see more.
SEO

SEO is the most over-complicated and overly hyped concept of Blogging, you will see many bloggers stressing out over SEO like making it perfect to rank your site.
But my advice to newbie bloggers will be to take it lightly and learn along the way, do not waste time watching a bunch of SEO videos and learning concepts that you aren’t even gonna use.
And SEO is not something that can be taught in just a single article, so below is the link to a beginner guide to SEO course (FREE). Download the pdf and learn by yourself.
